ABCN celebrated the end of a tremendous year at various annual events around Australia last month which were generously hosted by Commonwealth Bank and PwC. A highlight of the Sydney celebration was the Islander Dance Troupe from Granville Boys High School who performed the Haka for 150 of our supporters.
There’s been much to celebrate at ABCN in 2013. Almost 12,000 students participated in ABCN core programs, with 4,000 volunteers from member companies giving their time to mentor students and partner with schools. As a thank you to our mentors and supporters ABCN asked students to share their heartfelt thanks. Please click here to watch the video.
Two of our programs deserve a special mention. Aspirations, our career-planning program for Year 11 students, was so successful that the Federal Department of Education has provided funding for ABCN to expand the program into new states and regional areas in 2014.
Focus, our intensive young women’s leadership program, has been in high demand since its inception late last year. This year, the program matched 240 senior female executives and 450 female students, with 100% of participants saying they are better communicators as a result. In response to these excellent outcomes and a high level of interest from participants we will run a follow-on program in 2014. Focus22020欧洲杯晋级队伍 will give students the opportunity to explore more challenging leadership concepts with their mentors.
Our work with the JPMorgan Global Foundation in 2012 and 2013 allowed over 11,000 primary and high school students to experience the arts. For the majority of these students this was their first ever arts experience.
We were also pleased to welcome three new member companies - Gilbert + Tobin, Hay Group and Adelaide and Bendigo Bank, growing our membership to 35.
